In marketing, there’s something called the Blue Ocean Strategy that prescribes tapping opportunities beyond what’s currently being fought over by you and competitors. Maybe it’s high time workers should look into unsaturated job markets to secure jobs.

With the monthly job cuts in the hundreds of thousands, the unemployed’s chances of securing work in the same line as what they used to do is slim to none. Students, who are set to graduate, also suffer from the same predicament. However, it’s a good thing the government is expanding its horizons in order to provide good jobs to people – particularly in the field of green jobs.

CNN reports
that White House intends to channel $20 billion into creating a greener economy. The president, in his speech, claims that the “U.S. will double its supply of renewable energy in three years. To do so, he’s calling on a new class of workers to be trained in environmental fields. Green jobs training programs will get $500 million from the stimulus.” Even Vice-President Joe Biden claims that workers can get as much as $50 an hour after a green jobs training program.

Still green jobs cannot be seen as an immediate promised land of milk and honey. Some companies focusing on renewable energy have taken its share of blows from the economic downturn. Still, many are optimistic and see it as a worthwhile track to pursue in the future. Just more than a month in office and we are already seeing the President intent on backing up his words with action.
