Office SpaceIt’s plainly a recipe for disaster. The recession had workers putting in long hours for more work and less pay. It’s plain as day workers are bound to be unhappy out it.

Productivity figures went up as those who were able to survive the job cuts stayed on to do more work – work that was supposed to be done by the vacant positions.

Earning money is one thing. But if you’re working twice the work with compensation slashed, that’s another. Aside from pay cuts, other benefits like health car, 401k, bonuses and incentives have been virtually eliminated to save costs.

Slacking off is on the rise as workers begin to devote more time to do time-wasters like surfing the net and texting. But can you blame them? Not much you can do to raise morale if you can’t incentivize.

No one can keep that optimism for long and it’s finally taking its toll.
