Toyota will be recalling 110,000 of their Tundra pickup trucks, with models from 2002 through 2003, in 20 U.S. states and the District of Columbia due to the findings of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that the frame of these pickup trucks can be excessively corroded by road salts. The frames have spare tires mounted on them and a dislodged spare tire can cause accidents on the road.
Toyota will either replace the damaged portion of the truck’s frame or they will apply a rust-resistant compound to the affected area of the recalled cars.
The 20 states included in the recall reported on Tuesday are Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia.
