Watch out, Toyota and Lexus drivers. Beware of the killer floormats.
Toyota has issued an advisory to Toyota and Lexus drivers to remove all-weather floor mats installed in their cars due to faulty installation. The floor mats can get the accelerator pedal stuck. And common sense tells us what can result when that happens.
“A stuck open accelerator pedal may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to stop the vehicle, which could cause a crash, serious injury or death,” said Toyota in its statement.
The National Highway Traffic Safety warned drivers of Toyota and Lexus vehicles to remove the floor mats as a precautionary measure. Toyota has started a recall program to address the issue. An estimated 3.8 million vehicles are said to be affected.

- Toyota Camry: 2007-2010
