Store returns and product packaging

Just recently, I had to buy a new laptop for work. Unfortunately, the machine that I got had a defect and I had to return it. The shop only required my receipt and everything that came with the laptop. Good thing I always keep all the packaging that comes with every purchase I make at least for the return period.

No one wants clutter around, but sometimes, you have to put up with boxes and bits and pieces of packaging until such a time when you don’t need them anymore. My rule of thumb when it comes to these things is to keep everything related to my purchase until after the store policy for returns.

So I boxed everything up, making sure that it was just like the way I got it. I got a new replacement laptop without too many questions. While the law is on your side when it comes to returns, the psychological effect of showing that you took care of the product does help in facilitating your return.

After the return window has closed, feel free to declutter your home with the boxes and other packaging material. Most manufacturers will honor warranties and not require you to packaging and assorted bits when claiming warranties. Just make sure that you’ve taken out all the important bits related to the product including the manuals and warranty cards.
