With the sheer number of unemployed, people are getting more and more desperate when it comes to jobs. Riches to rags stories aren’t uncommon these days that even those earning six-figure salaries just last year are all settling for jobs that could simply tide them over.

While it is always smart to try and engage a field in which you bear expertise, but the fact remains that some industries are just shot and will take time to recover. Experts have been pointing out several avenues that job hunters can take. For the meantime, which industries can provide for income to cover basic expenses. Here are several that have been pointed out:

Temp jobs, part-time help and odd jobs. Taking on a shift or two or running a small gig from one’s home can bring in a few more bucks a day. Dog-walking, spring-cleaning, encoding, and baby-sitting are only a few job ideas that one can consider in between job hunting. While these provide the least amount of security, they can at least provide you that you’d be able to eat for a day.

Construction. Aside from social services, the feds will also be investing in infrastructure. Many of these projects simply require manpower where just a bit of practical know-how can already help one function. However, most of these projects will be seeing completion in just a few months that contracts often just span half a year.

Green, education and health sectors. These are the industries that experts consider to provide longer-term fixes but would be elusive to those not trained in the fields. The government is trying to prop up the economy by creating jobs. President Obama has promised to provide better social services and those primarily concern education and health. In addition, green initiatives will be the focus of many governments in the coming years that the federal government will even be initiating retraining courses for the green sector.
