Senate passed a bill that sets the $410B the US government spending budget on Tuesday (March 10). The Senate voted 62-35 to halt debate and the bill was passed on a voice vote.
The large spending bill is aimed to provide for the government’s projects and operational expenses for the rest of the year.
Many critics questioned the 8,000 congressional “earmarks” amounting to $8 billion allocated for “pork-barrel” projects. Some even argue that the budget is already contradictory to President Obama’s promise of ending unnecessary spending by the government.
However, officials rebutted that the bill is just a holdover from the previous Congress.
