Saving money on baby essentials

Posted by Alex as Consumer, Tips and Advice

BabyIf you’re soon-to-be-parents, congrats! This is the start of a joyous phase in your life, though it can also be a stressful one, especially if you are brand new at the parenting department. One of the anxieties new parents experience is the big change a baby makes to one’s family budget.

Although it is understandable that parents would want the best and the newest for their baby, it is not really that practical to spend a lot when you can easily find other ways to acquire the basic needs of your baby.

You can always accept hand-me-downs from family and friends who have baby things in their storage. This way, you can spend much less on frills and focus more on the more essential stuff.

A baby needs a safe and warm place to sleep. If you are going to buy beddings, it would be more practical to buy a pram that can double as a cot when the baby is still tiny.

Instead of buying disposable diapers, except for taking the baby out, why not opt for cloth diapers which you can simply wash when soiled.

Try breastfeeding if possible. No more buying of formulas. Breast milk is nutritious and free. When your baby gets older and starts to eat solid food, you can always make them using fresh produce. Not only is it healthy, but it saves you money from buying bottled baby food.
