If you don’t think you’re divulging too much information on your social networking page, think again. You might not only have to worry about identity thieves this time around, even Mr. Taxman might be checking your page out.
So if you’re a tax evader, better think about what you post online. Better yet, pay your taxes first before going bonkers on posting stuff about yourself online. State revenue agents have been using social networking sites to mine data.
Take for example this schmuck from Minnesota. Agents were able to slap him with back taxes after he posted details about his relocation back to his hometown due to work on his MySpace page. The collection amounted to thousands of dollars.
Details that they check – relocation, professional profiles, and financial boasts.
