It’s not the end of the world if you have your credit card stolen. However, losing it would still need some prompt action on your part.
The first thing you’ll need to do is to call the bank or the company that holds your account. Let them know thet your credit card is stolen. Have them cancel the card so that the thief won’t be able to use it for purchases. You can also ask them issue you a new card. If charges have already been made, your prompt call would help the bank remove those charges so you won’t need to pay for them.
The next step is to call the police and make a report. Give detailed information about when, where, or how the card was stolen. If you can give a description of the person who stole it, all the better. Withyour help, they can track down the thief especially when they try to make purchases with it. Prosecute the person if they are caught.
In case charges have been made on your credit card account, you’ll have to fill out a chargeback form. Be detailed in answering this and make sure you correctly fill out the information needed.
When the credit card company has sent you a new credit card through mail, keep an eye on your mailbox and make sure that it is not misplaced. Sign the back of the replacement card immediately.
