Google AdWords executive jumps ship to Facebook

Despite being among the top as the best employer, Google seems to be having problems retaining its top people. The latest to jump ship – Google AdWords operations chief Grady Burnett to join social networking giant, Facebook.

Grady will join Facebook COO Shery Sandberg, also coming from Google’s advertising arm. Insider reports have it that Burnett and Sandberg closely worked together while in Google. Pretty logical since what Facebook needs are people who have strong work relationships given that this will be the first time they will be taking a crack at bringing in solid numbers.

Silicon Alley Insider writes, “We think Facebook could get to profitability in a hurry if it beefed up its ad sales operations. A well-connected Valley source tells us Facebook advertisers are finally beginning to see decent return on their spend. So today’s hire is a big step toward that goal.”

This is perhaps the most concrete step we’ve seen for Facebook in finally working on a revenue stream. The company is valued in billions though it still has to generate any income for the company. It recently took in $200 billion funding from a Russian technology firm.
