Gas PumpUh oh. Looks like gas will be a problem yet again. While $2.64 a gallon of unleaded looks a long ways from the $4 record highs, the increasing trend points towards that direction. Something that no American motorist is keen on experiencing again.

The latest survey indicates a rise in prices of 15.83 cents per gallon in the past two weeks. The Lundberg survey says that it’s a direct effect of the rising prices of crude oil in the world market.

“Both oil and gasoline prices are about where they were back in late June,” Lundberg said. However, “as far as pump price hikes, this is probably it for a while, if crude oil stays put,” survey publisher Trilby Lundberg.

The hike could have been higher but demand is down so far this month. The still mounting job losses also affected the number of commuters and less people are going to road trips this season. Still, this month’s number is $1.20 lower compared to last year’s figures.

Lowest gas around can be had in Charleston, South Carolina, at $2.38 and highest still is in Honolulu, Hawaii, at $3.07.
