If you’re paying attention to spam, you might have come across these ads about getting paid for answering surveys. While a lot of them might seem bogus, there’s a number of websites that do actually pay you for minutes of your time answering survey forms.

MSN Money discusses the potential value of these surveys. Here’s basically how it works, you fill out survey forms online and you get paid from anywhere from a few cents to a few dollars (around $15 to $20 max). These would take a few minutes to accomplish. The longer the form, the higher the payout typically.

Now the question is if you can get rich with such activities. The key idea here is to gauge how much effort you put in for the payout. Money is money and a few added bucks into your monthly income is always welcome. However, as many would point out, this can be tedious work.

It shouldn’t replace any full time work that you have. And you have to pay tax as well so that’s less real spending money. However, it’s work that can be done by stay-at-home moms in those times when there’s a lull in housework or even by full-time workers wanting to earn up to a few hundred dollars monthly. Some surveys also give you freebies to base survey answers with. Freebies are freebies.

You also have to be savvy enough to weed out spam and bogus paid survey ads on the web.

Given the old adage that “the Internet is for p*rn”, many have thought that the domain names is indeed the biggest kahuna as far as domain names go but its owners have found out that it’s not really the case.

Site owner Escom is now letting go of the domain after not being able to pay its debts it incurred acquiring the world’s most expensive domain name.

The domain was registered back in 1994 by Stanford scholar and Match.com founder Gary Kremen. The domain made five million hits a day and generated $100 million a year in revenue for the first five years. It went on sale in 2006 when Escom bought it from Kremen.

It’s all about business models and strategies and a huge amount of luck. While many are still making huge dough on adult entertainment online, a $14 million domain name would need a huge amount of revenue in order to provide a decent return of investment. The business model, which involved content distribution deals including with establish publications like Playboy, never really panned out.

What does it take to be an Internet billionaire? Well, Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin started Google while in college and all they needed was a brilliant idea for a search engine. Now, their company practically controls the known Internet.

But what’s this news about them selling their stock? BBC reports that both Page and Brin will be selling 10 million of their shares at today’s prices. The figure amounts to $5.5 billion.

The sale would mean that the co-founders will no longer have majority control of the company as their voting rights will drop from 59% majority to just 48%.

While some people would probably be raising eyebrows because of this move, Google claims that the two are still very much committed with Google.

Still, factoring in CEO Eric Schmidt’s 10% voting power, the three still has things pretty much under control.

Internet ads offering free trials on stuff such as teeth whiteners and colon cleansers might just not be free after all.

These companies are supposed to send you free trial packages of products in exchange for your credit card info. However, if you don’t opt out or cancel the product, you might get billed for it. In some cases, you might not even get the actual product.

A warning has been issued by the FTC, Visa and Better Business Bureau. VISA says that 30% of online consumers have been victimized by such promotions.

As a word of caution, don’t give just any website your financial information. Check with the Better Business Bureau first if the company is legit. And be wary of any too-good-to-be-true deals.
