Here’s another small idea turned big.
San Jose-based Altierre makes marking prices on merchandise as easy as a snap by making computerized shelf labels. Grocers can change prices simply by using wireless network.
Its head, Sunit Saxena, got this idea by accident when he couldn’t find anyone inside a grocery store, only to discover the clers in a back room tearing price tags off for repricing. He quit his job as COO of a microprocessor firm and founded Altierre.
In just a few years, national grocery chains such as Kroger, Safeway, and Wal-Mart are already testing Altierre’s labels. This new way of marking prices helps save money and resources.
And perhaps another way to easily jack up prices with a touch of a button.
