Apple has pushed rapid obsolescence of their products with their launch cycles for improved versions of their electronic gadgets like the iPod shipping out as quick as six months’ time. A buyer who’s looking to milk the lifespan won’t appreciate this at all.

Still, this doesn’t prevent many from opting to get these new version. The iPhone will be having its latest incarnation with the 3G S set to go on sale in Apple Stores this Friday. iPhone launch dates have had a history of long queues of customers waiting to be one of the first people to get theirs.

Apple, however, expects long lines at their stores but they might not be as long as last year’s iPhone 3G launch.

Analysts are estimating a launch date sales of 500,000 units. This is half the number of units Apple sold last year, when it launched the 3G. Still, this is a significant number provided that the 3G S is only launching in 8 countries compared to the 3G’s 21.

The 3G S boasts of increased speed but would cost $100 more – something reviews consider as a very justified cost.
