Ever wonder what it’s like to live in a really great city? What makes a city great anyway? Clean air? Clean streets? Low crime rates? Amazing infrastructure? No traffic?

Research group Mercer, just did a survey putting down political and social environment (including stability and crime rates), economy, restrictions on freedom, health care, school, and exposure to infectious diseases, access to goods and services, cost of housing, climate and susceptibility to natural disasters as factors.

Great cities do exist. If you’re wondering where they are, Mercer identifies the ratings of 420 global cities and Forbes’ gives us the best 20. No American city made the Top 20 list and we can all just roll our eyes. Read on to see the Top 20 list.
